Georgian Twinned Cities Celebrate Together

On the 14th January fourteen members of the Newport Kutaisi Twinning Association with their Chair Sonia Fisher were invited by Bristol Twinning Association to join them in a celebratory Supra, a feast of delicious traditional Georgian food held at Westbury-on-Trym’s village hall.

Bristol is twinned with the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi and its Association was delighted to have present His Excellency the Georgian Ambassador Giorgi Badridze, his wife, the Lord Mayor and Mayoress of Bristol and Newport’s Mayor and Mayoress, Cllr and Mrs Bill Langsford as guests of honour.

In his toast, H.E. Giorgi Badridze expressed his great pleasure at being invited to the event. He went on to tell everyone of the progress his country is making and hoped that many present that had not visited the country would, one day, do so.

Toasts were made by each Mayor and the Chairman of the BTA, Derek Pickup who also presented H.E. Giorg Badridze with a Bristol Blue goblet.

Everyone enjoyed the Supra, the Georgian wine and the singing of Georgian songs by Bristol‘s Georgian Choir.
