Memorandum of Understanding between University of Wales, Newport and Kutaisi State University April 2008

In April, Giorgi Oniani, Rector of Kutaisi State University accompanied by David Gegechkori, Head of International Affairs of Kutaisi State University came to the University of Wales, Newport to meet with Dr. Chris O’Malley, Pro Vice Chancellor (Regional & International Development).

They met with staff and visited several departments.

During their stay a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by both universities to strengthen the long-standing links that have existed between the two universities. For nearly fifteen years students have come from Kutaisi to take up a postgraduate placement that is offered each year.

Mr Giorgi Oniani and Mr David Gegechkori had a most enjoyable meeting with members of Newport Kutaisi Association
